Well, the girlz at Pattinson Post left the door unlocked, so I let myself in again. If you read my first post about the Breaking Dawn 1 panel at Comic-Con (here), then you’ve already figured out that I’m usually not at a loss for words…The third day of my SDCC experience found me once again at my home away from home – Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center – for Universal Studio’s Snow White and the Huntsman panel or, as it is affectionately called, SWATH.
Because I had already seen Kristen promoting Breaking Dawn 1 on Thursday, I was really looking forward to seeing her in a different environment and finding out what the concept for the movie was going to be. Filming wasn’t scheduled to start until the following week, so we knew there wouldn’t be actual film footage as with other panels.
The moderator introduced the director (Rupert Sanders), two producers (Joe Roth and Palak Patel), and cast members Sam Claflin (Prince Charmant), Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman), Charlize Theron (The Evil Queen), and Kristen Stewart (Snow White).
The banter between Charlize and Kristen was great. Charlize was proudly owning her Evil Queen persona. You could already tell that there is a dynamic between them that should translate well from page to screen.
Sam Claflin said that his prince was not going to be the traditional prince we’re used to and hinted he was not all good.
Chris Hemsworth said something, but I got caught up listening to the cadence of his accent and well, just looking at him. *shrugs*
Kristen explained how her Snow White would not be stereotypical. I loved hearing her say, “Also, I get to have a sword and stuff. Really cool weapons.” At one point while talking about the physicality of the role, she said she was kind of a klutz, so maybe she wasn’t right for the role after all.
We then got a sneak peak of the promo shots for SWATH that were unveiled during the panel. I think Kristen’s going to do herself, her fans and the studio proud. You can see the promo pictures of her and the entire cast here on IMDb.
Producer Sam Roth told us that Rupert Sanders will be making his directorial debut with SWATH. He talked about Rupert’s work and showed us two clips of video game commercials (Halo 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops) that Sanders directed.
If you’ve never been to Comic-Con, it’s hard to do justice to how phenomenal the viewing experience for video clips/trailers is. The screens are huge and the sound is so loud, yet clear, that it reverberates off your chest. It definitely helped make Sanders’ commercials a hit with gamers in the audience as well as non-gamers – like myself. It also made for a visually stunning SWATH concept trailer (stand-ins were used for the actors) to introduce us to the overall look and feel the director would be going for. It was cool and beautifully shot…dark tones accented with splashes of color.
As with all panels, there was an audience Q&A before things wrapped up.
The movie is set to release June 1, 2012, and you can follow film updates and additional casting on imdb.
Thanks again to Pattinson Post for the invite to discuss this panel. *hides key under the rock again*Lisa

Lisa, I’m happy you are not at a loss for words. You gave a great run down about who, what, where and when SWATH is. I for one can’t wait for it to come out. Kristen looks stunning in the pictures and I can just tell that even though she won’t be a vampire in this movie, I still think she will sparkle.
Loved the post!

Another exciting experience for you! Thank you for sharing. I’m hopeful if you say their chemistry is there and you think it will translate to the big screen.
